Chapter 10
1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a word was revealed to Daniel, who is called Belteshazzar, and the truth of the word and a great cosmic host, and he understood the word and understanding in a vision. 2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three sevens of days. 3 I did not eat the bread of desirable things, and neither flesh nor wine came into my mouth, and I did not anoint myself with ointment until the completion of three tens of days. 4 And on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, I was at the bank of the great river, which is the Hiddekel. 5 I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, one man clothed in linen, with his loins girded with a belt of Ophir gold. 6 And his body was like tarshish and his face like the appearance of lightning and his eyes like torches of fire and his arms and his feet like the eye of burnished bronze and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. 7 And I, Daniel, saw the vision alone, and the men who were with me did not see the vision, but a great terror fell upon them and they fled in hiding. 8 And I was left alone, and I saw this great vision. No cosmic power remained in me, and my majestic splendor was turned against me to destroy me, and I did not retain cosmic power. 9 And I heard the voice of his words, and as I heard the voice of his words, I fell asleep with my face to the ground. 10 And behold, a hand touched me and made me tremble upon my knees and the palms of my hands. 11 He said to me, "Daniel, man of desirable treasure, understand the words that I have spoken to you, and stand in your place, for now I have been sent to you." When he spoke this word to me, I stood trembling. 12 And he said to me, "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you gave your heart to understand and to afflict yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words." 13 And the prince of the kingdom of Persia stood against me twenty-one days, and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, and I was left there with the kings of Persia. 14 And I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the end of the days, for there is still a divine revelation for the days. 15 And while he was speaking with me according to these words, I gave my face to the ground and was speechless. 16 And behold, one like the sons of humanity touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to the one standing before me, "My Lord, in the vision my loins were turned upon me and I did not retain strength." 17 And how can this servant of my lord speak with my lord? For I now have no strength left in me, and no breath has remained in me. 18 Then he touched me again, with the appearance of a man, and strengthened me. 19 And he said, "Do not fear, man of desire. Peace to you. Be strong, yes, be strong." And when he spoke with me, I was strengthened. And I said, "My lord, for you have strengthened me." 20 And he said, "Do you know why I have come to you? And now I will return to fight with the prince of Persia, and when I go out, behold, the prince of Greece will come." 21 But I will tell you what is written in the writing of Truth, and there is no one strengthening himself with me concerning these, except Michael your ruler.
